How to get your dog ready for the baby

Dogs are pack animals who love to get along others if they feel secure around them otherwise respond with aggression. Moreover, their aggression shows that they are guarding their territory from strangers. This behavior can happen even with a newborn in the house.

However, you can train a dog beforehand the child’s birth. Also, you cannot expect the dog to cooperate after the kid’s birth.

Generally, a dog shows aggression towards the newborn because he feels that his kibble, crate, toys, bed, the most important- parent’s attention will be snatched. Thus, make sure you give sufficient attention and everything to your Fido as usual.

You can even increase the number of meals by reducing the quantity(he wouldn’t even know about it) to make him feel contented. Apart from that, train him to get away from your way while you want to move around. It will teach him to move away from the toddlers way in the future.

Finally, get your newborn’s boots, blanket, etc. before you shift the newborn home from the hospital. The dog will pick up the scent coming from you as yours and get used to it within a few days.
